BARROW Raiders coach Paul Crarey has been dealt a massive blow with the news that leading try scorer Tee Ritson could be ruled out for six weeks.

The flying machine has been in sensational form, having crossed the whitewash on ten occasions this season. However, he damaged his ankle ligaments in trying to gather a high kick to the corner in last week's 24-24 draw with his former club Workington.

But as one winger goes out another returns, and the good news is that Ryan Shaw has overcome a knee injury to come into contention. Local boy Shaw, who has played Super League with Hull KR and now back with his home town club, has yet to appear in the league so far missing all eight games. He damaged his knee in a pre-season friendly with Workington.

Shaw is a ready-made replacement for Ritson's wing position as Crarey tries to finalise his 17-man squad which will be made this morning.

The Barrow boss is taking stock with his walking wounded. Skipper Jarrad Stack could be in the running – he has a chest injury but his return would be a boost for the clash with second-in-the-table Doncaster.

Nathan Mossop took a knock to the head early in Sunday's game with Workington and had to leave the field, while Jake Carter took another knock to the ribs.

They will be given time to be declared fit but regular centres Mark Tyson (ankle), Hakim Miloudi (wrist) and Declan Hulme (concussion) will have to sit this one out.

Danny Morrow had his head stapled and came back late in the game as further injuries took their toll on the Raiders.

Other good news is that Jordan Walne could finally make his first appearance of the campaign after suffering severe concussion in the Oldham cup tie, and the long-awaited opportunity to play alongside his brother in a Barrow jersey awaits him.

Crarey said: “We are all looking forward to what should be tough game with Doncaster. They are flying at the moment with only one defeat, at Rochdale. But we will have to knuckle down on our discipline – you can’t afford to give away too many penalties against top sides, we have spoken about that this week.

“We had to do a lot of shuffling last week through injuries – it was a game I thought we could and should have won but we let them back into the game in the second half. Then again, it was tough against a team running high in the table but that’s how I want it – I don’t like games when you are winning by 40 or 50 points.

"I was proud of the lads, they fought hard and probably a draw was a fair result.”
