LAKE Windermere played host to two ITV shows earlier this week which featured open water swimming and the boating fun that South Lakes has to offer.

The 'Save Grange Lido' group were featured open water swimming live on ITV’s ‘This Morning’ from Fell Foot Park, Newby Bridge.

Television personality Lisa Snowdon also took the plunge in her first ever wild swim, who SGL chair Janet Carter said was 'extremely enthusiastic' throughout which was her personal highlight of the TV spell.

The television feature was part of a brand-new ITV competition, used to promote the Lake District. The ‘National Trust’ invited the swim team to take part.

After the swim, Lisa was gifted a ‘Save Grange Lido’ swim hat and was photographed alongside members of the SGL committee.

Ian Bury, one of the swimmers, was interviewed live by Lisa about the benefits of open water swimming.

“Being asked to explain the benefits of outdoor swimming on National television was fantastic," he said. "I’m really pleased that the Save Grange Lido Swim Team was selected to represent local swimmers. We had an overall great day, the film crew were amazing, making us part of the positive message about the Lake District.”

After this the ITV presenter was shipped over to Windermere Lakes Cruises where she and fellow presenter Natalie Anderson for a boat ride that featured the beauty of the area for the audiences of ITV's This Morning and Loose Women.

Sales and Marketing Director at Windermere Lake Cruise, Jennifer Cormack, said: “It was a pleasure to work with the ITV team. Both presenters, Lisa Snowdon and Natalie Anderson, absolutely loved their experience out on the lake and we were delighted to host them for the day on board the iconic Queen of the Lake.

"It was a fantastic opportunity to share Windermere with ITV viewers and the sunny blue skies were an added bonus!”
