A pair of intrepid divers who have taken it upon themselves to clear the national park’s lakes of rubbish have been given a letter of ‘sincere thanks’ from an MP.
Angus Hosking and Declan Turner have attracted a sizeable social media following during their adventures in the Lake District’s depths.
Last month, they won further plaudits after retrieving a diamond engagement ring from Windermere and returning it to the owner.
Now, Westmorland and Lonsdale MP Tim Farron has offered his thanks for their efforts in retrieving the jewellery.
In his letter to the pair, Mr Farron added: “I also want to thank you for carrying out this act of public service on a regular basis – not just to help people find their lost items, but also to remove litter and keep our waters clean.”
