RECORD Store Day will be music to the ears of TNT Records in Barrow, which is prepped and ready for its most-anticipated day of the year.

The Duke Street-based shop will have many new releases in vinyl whilst celebrating the history and culture of music and record stores nationally.

Dave Turner and his team have been working tirelessly to be ready decorating and making the store more accessible after previous occasions have seen high demand and big queues outside.

“It is going to be bouncing,” he said.

“There will be two drops this month and next month and we are absolutely chock-a-block with records now ready to go.

“We have had records coming in their thousands and there has been a lot of interest from regular customers and new customers.

“Some people are planning on travelling hours to come here.

“Sometimes they have come to us before because they like our service and how we treat our customers.”

Record Store Day — this year having two drops on June 12 and July 17 — is the one day of the year when more than 200 independent record shops all across the UK come together to celebrate their unique culture.

Special vinyl releases are made exclusively for the day and many shops and cities host artist performances and events to mark the occasion.

“We will be doing the whole package and taking teas and coffees to people in the queue, and we will be doing bacon buns,” Mr Turner continued.

“It is going to be Covid safe, and we have implemented a one-way system and people will be asked to social distance in the queue.

“We have quite a large store, but we will be doing three or four in at a time with masks.

“People do come from hours away for these things and spend the day in Barrow.

“One year, a man from Canada was in the Lake District and he paid a visit and now he buys from us every week.

“This is the best day of the year for us here.

“With the year we have just had we are in need of something a bit special and this can deliver that in history and culture of the arts.
