A BARROW pub has undertaken a refurbishment project which will see a 'complete' change in the design of the building.
The Bay Horse, located on Hawcoat Lane, will reopen on Monday, and hopes to impress its customers with its new layout and features.
The pub has been owned and operated by Gary and Barbara White, both from Morecambe, since 1992.
Gary said: "We've been together for 35 years, and we've been running pubs for the best part of 30 years.
"We have now come to feel that Barrow is home. We've been here for so long we can't see ourselves ever moving anywhere else now.
"We work as a couple. On May 25, we will be marking 22 years at the Bay Horse which is a bit of a landmark.
"We've been doing a refurbishment during lockdown and we've got a new look for the place.
"It's more of a modern look. It's got a bit more of a contemporary look. We've changed some of the lighting and we have a new look to the bar.
"We can't wait for people to see it. We really hope they like it.
"We've had a lot done over lockdown but then again a lot of business have also taken the opportunity to make some changes.
"It was a good opportunity to get it done while we were closed so there was minimal impact on the business.
"We've changed the lights, the lay out, the tables, put in some plant pots and put in a new back bar.
"The refurbishment has changed a lot of areas of the building.
"We did a lot of the decorating late last year and a lot during the winter.
"We continued to do some of the inside after we had to shut again.
"It was about £65,000 we looked to spend all together.
"We're really looking forward to Monday. We look forward to seeing the regulars, and maybe some new faces too.
"Can't wait to see their reaction.
"At the moment we have ten members of staff and we're looking to increase that in the future.
"As a pub lockdown has been very frustrating to keep having to close, reopen, close again but we hope that this will be the last time we have to do it.
"We look forward to putting the Bay Horse back at the centre of the community and continuing taking the pub from strength to strength.
"We will be providing new drinks and continue to expand on our popular menu. We welcome people back."
