READERS have provided their thoughts on what should replace the soon-to-be-empty B&M store in Barrow.
The space is being advertised as for sale and to let by property agents Peill and Co, because B&M has relocation and expansion plans according to the agents.
GP Rose said: “It doesn’t necessarily mean the shop is closing, it might just be a new landlord buying the property.”
Vanessa Macdonald said: “Best just go out of town, there’s nowt here.”
Julie Jewels Vigus said: “I would like to see a Yours clothing store and some stores that cater for the older generation. Also men’s and children’s clothing stores are needed.
"Not everyone shops online and if it’s one thing the pandemic has taught us people still like to go into a shop and touch and feel what they are buying.”
Stacey Gaughan said: “More clothes shops for men, women and children – we haven’t got enough of them in town, they all seem to be closing down.”
Dave Wiggan said: “Sad to see so many shops in Barrow disappearing – are there any shops left in the town centre?”
Georgina Tina Bower said: “Our town centre is becoming a ghost town like most towns. Very sad.”
Mike Jones said: “We need another takeaway.”
Chris Rendall said: “Not a charity shop.”
Ry Greenwood said: “A cheeky Nando’s.”
Steven Mainwaring said: “Woolworths.”
Shirley Toomey said: “OMG another shop bites the dust.”
Stuey Thomson said: “Got to be a Greggs.”
And Hal Christopher Armstrong said: “Debenhams.”
