ROADWORKS have begun on a south Cumbrian road.

Cumbria County Council confirmed it will be repairing parts of Newton Street Back Lane in Millom for at least five days.

The council's Highways team started on Tuesday 4th May.

Motorists will be banned from entering where the repairs are taking place on the road.

This will extend to Newton Street Back Lane's junction with Lapstone Road.

The council say appropriate traffic signs will be in place for vehicles.

A way for pedestrians and dismounted cyclists will be maintained at all times.

A suitable alternative route for vehicles will be signed and available via Lapstone Road, Wellington Street and the unrestricted section of Newton Street Back Lane.

The Highways Hotline is 0300 303 2992.
