A group of Furness College students are celebrating achieving top marks in their apprenticeships.

Fay Baron, Charlie Thompson, Levi McCarthy and Anisha Bell all work at Siemens Energy Subsea in Ulverston and study through day release at the Barrow college's Channelside campus.

Fay said: "Throughout our apprenticeship we have had the chance to rotate around many departments, which has been beneficial to our learning and development and helped us understand the wider business.

"And we’ve thoroughly enjoyed our time working with all our Subsea colleagues.”

Charlie said: “It is hoped we will be offered permanent positions within the business and, who knows, we may even take the opportunity to go on to study further at degree level."

Levi is currently working in project management, Fay with bids, Charlie in planning and Anisha in delivery.

Work completed for their apprenticeships included producing a portfolio of evidence to prove their competence, completing an exam, and delivering a presentation based on a project.

Wendy Singleton, learning and development manager at Siemens Energy Subsea, said the apprentices had made 'a significant contribution to all the departments they have worked with' during their training.

"We are sure they all have a very successful future ahead of them," she said.

Luci Ord, head of business development at Furness College, said: "The company has worked with us every step of the way and really understands how we can offer young people an apprenticeship that gives them the very best start by equipping them with the relevant set of skills to succeed in the workplace."
