THE most common first names of people charged with a crime in the county have been revealed.

Cumbria police said that David was the most common name for people brought to book in the county.

Michael and Mark were the second and third most common names according to figures.

Barney Surf said: “This is an unexpected piece of news. I wonder who actually began to notice patterns of names in crimes first, and what do they think the cause is? I hope some research gets done about this. Could be worth a read.”

Frank Slipper said: “Well everybody seems to be taking this very light hearted, however I think it could prove to be very useful for our police. If they keep their eyes on the Davids of the county their detection rate could well, go up. Not forgetting the Michaels of course.”

Steven Frankley said: “It’s interesting the names we pick for our kids. A few years ago, everyone was naming their kids after Game of Thrones characters. It’s usual but live and let live. Still a strange thing to put on your kids, your favourite TV show.”

Greg Jackson said: “I bet there will be some research done into this in a few years. You could divide people into all sorts of labels from this. Could divide them into class or areas maybe, and from those areas they’ll be different types of crimes which could be interesting.”

James Jones said: “I wonder where James ranks on all these things?”
