LIFEBOAT crew were called out to come to the aid of a kayaker in difficulty.
Volunteer crew from Barrow Lifeboat Station launched their inshore lifeboat after kayaker overturned in Walney Channel.
But after being dispatched, the crew were told that the kayaker had made it back to shore without needing any help.
It happened on Saturday morning just after 11.30am.
A Royal National Lifeboat Institution spokesman said: "The call for assistance came through from the regional HM Coastguard base in Holyhead at 11.35am.
"The information received was that a kayaker was in the water north of Jubilee Bridge after his craft had overturned.
"The crew was paged and the inshore lifeboat, Vision of Tamworth, was launched at 11.45am with Jonny Long at the helm assisted by Alan Cleasby and Andy Baxter."
