A COASTGUARD team was called out to reports of a porpoise which had washed up on the beach.
Furness Coastguard were paged at 11.46 today to reports of a porpoise which had washed up on the beach on Walney Island.
The team located the porpoise and key measurements were recorded for the Natural History Museum.
A spokesman for Furness Coastguard said: "If in trouble at sea or along the coast, or you think someone else is, dial 999 and ask for the Coastguard."
