A music and arts venue is looking forward to welcoming back visitors after a ‘difficult’ past year.

The Forum in Barrow has released a schedule of shows for the 2021 season – many of which sold out within hours.

The venue was forced to close its doors in March last year following the outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic.

However, the site is looking forward to welcoming back audience members ahead of its reopening.

The Forum’s first show is scheduled for July 2, when dance school Deemon Academy is set to perform.

Councillor Shaun Blezard, Barrow Council’s lead member for arts, culture and leisure, said after a ‘difficult’ 12 months the venue was looking forward to welcoming back visitors.

He said: “We are very lucky to have an arts venue like The Forum in our borough which offers a packed calendar of excellent artists, shows and performances every year and draws visitors from across the area.

“After a difficult 12 months it will be wonderful to see people enjoying this facility and all that it offers once more as soon as Covid restrictions allow.”

Among the biggest names set to perform this year are Josh Widdicombe whose sell-out show has been rescheduled to Sunday, April 10, 2022.

Joel Dommett’s Unapologetic (If That’s OK?) tour has also been rescheduled from last Friday to Saturday, March 5, 2022.

Award-winning comedian Sarah Millican also announced she will performing in the venue in August, while chart-topping band Scouting for Girls are set to play at The Forum in October as part of their popular UK and Ireland tour.

Tickets for both nights sold out shortly after going on sale – with additional shows scheduled for the year ahead from comedians Ross Noble, Jenny Eclair and Omid Djalili now also subject to high demand.

A spokeswoman for The Forum revealed that the rescheduled dates are based on everything going to plan nationwide with the planned easing of Covid restrictions.

The team hopes to plan some more events for people to enjoy once they are further along with the Government’s roadmap out of lockdown.

All current tickets on sale for upcoming shows are valid for the rescheduled dates, if however you cannot make the new date a refund can be obtained.
