SOLICITORS in one of the Cumbria's oldest firms have ranked as leading lawyers in two separate national legal directories.

In its 201st year, Temple Heelis, who have offices in Kendal, Windermere and Ambleside, has been hailed by Chambers and Partners, both in the UK listing and the High Net Worth Guide for private client work, as well as The Legal 500.

Managing partner, Jamie Hamilton, said the firm was delighted with the results, particularly as the ranking process was rigorous.

He explained: “We were interviewed remotely by specialist researchers, who also contacted clients and professionals, including accountants, barristers and surveyors to find out what they thought about us and the services we offer.

“In a process that took about eight months, editors of the directories assessed and ranked us in our region and specialisms.”

The judgement sees Temple Heelis listed as leading lawyers in both Carlisle and surrounds and northwest categories for private client and agriculture, and rural affairs work. In addition, four solicitors have been named as ‘notable practitioners’ in their specialist areas.

They are: Jamie Hamilton and Robert Kornas, private client partners; Peter Dodd, head of residential property, and Yasmin Blamire, commercial property.

Mr Hamilton said that in line with research for the legal directories, much of the firm’s work had been carried out remotely since the first lockdown in March last year.

The firm are now preparing their submissions to the legal directories for 2021, looking to maintain or better their current rankings.
