The National Trust is looking for local catering businesses to run cafes at four of their visitor attractions in the Lake District.

The cafes are at Acorn Bank in Penrith, Beatrix Potter’s Hill Top in Near Sawrey, Claife Viewing Station on Windermere’s western shore and Wray Castle in Ambleside.

Gareth Fuke, area manager for food and beverage in the Lake District, believes this offers a fantastic chance for catering firms and is eager to welcome the new providers at the visitors centres.

He said: “This is a great opportunity for a local food operator to grow their business within an already thriving visitor attraction, in a beautiful location.

"We’re looking forward to finding the right providers who can offer our visitors sustainably sourced, high quality food and drink whilst supporting our commitment to the environment.”

Amy McGowan, operations manager at Acorn Bank, hopes that the new business will add something extra to the National Trust.

She said: “We are really excited about this opportunity to work alongside a local business here at Acorn Bank.

"Hopefully we will find someone who can craft a charming, bespoke offer within our cosy café and outdoor courtyard. As well as delivering a traditional ‘hot drink and light bites’ menu, we are also interested to hear from businesses who may want to develop menu choices, expand their opening times, or even run their own events.”

The minimum provision is hot drinks, cakes and snacks and anyone with an interest is encouraged to get in touch.
