A TOTAL of 85 people with Covid in Cumbria died in the week to January 15, figures show.
Sixty of those who died were in hospital, with others at home, hospices, care homes or elsewhere.
The figure were revealed in Cumbria County Council's weekly Covid situation report published this morning.
The most deaths came in Carlisle, where 27 were recorded. Allerdale was second with 18.
Thirteen were recorded in Eden, 12 in South Lakeland, 11 in Copeland and four in Barrow.
The figures is the highest it has been for the county since the week ending April 24 2020.
