A MASS vaccination site is due to open in Furness.

The hub at GSK in Ulverston will open 'next week', according to an update shared by a doctor.

Dr Gerry Murray said by Friday 20 per cent of eligible people in the primary care network that serves Ulverston, Dalton, Askam, Kirkby and Broughton will have been vaccinated, above the national average of 10 per cent.

The doctor, of Dr Murray and Partners in Ulverston, said in an update shared on social media: "It has been an amazing couple of weeks and we will have vaccinated 4400 patients by Friday, most of those over 70, the clinically vulnerable, care workers and care home residents.

"A mass vaccination site at the Ulverston GSK site is also opening next week.

"So together we will get this done.

"All we need now is more vaccine to protect us all and help us get on with our lives."

The doctor said 700 vaccines would be administered in Ulverston on Friday.
