A BOMB disposal team was called to a beach after reports of ‘suspicious items’.
Millom Coastguard Rescue Team were sent to Bootle after police received a report of items believed to be bombs. They were later confirmed as ordnance.
The Army Explosive Ordnance Specialists' disposal team from Catterick Garrison was tasked to the incident on Saturday but was diverted to a more pressing incident, returning on Sunday to deal with the items.
If you see, or suspect, anything out of the ordinary on a beach, leave it where it is and call 999 and ask for the Coastguard.
