Celebrities and influencers have come to the aid of a Cumbrian family living in Spain in an effort to boost sales of fundraising lottery tickets.

The prize up for grabs is a beautiful Ulverston home and £5,000 in cash on top.

The Wilkinson family, set to move back to England next month,is raffling off the £180,000 home for just £2.50 to raise money for charity two years after their daughter's cancer diagnosis.

Three-year-old Oonagh was diagnosed with neuroblastoma at the age of just 19 months, undergoing surgery at Manchester Children's Hospital to have two tumours removed.

The family is now hoping that it will be able to raise £40,000 for Neuroblastoma UK by selling the home via raffle.

Mum Samantha Wilkinson, originally hailing from Dalton, said: "We are doing really well; since January 1 we have sold 8,000 tickets.

"It took off really quickly and has slowed, which is to be expected, but we've had some celebrities and influencers share our story on their Instagram pages so it's taking off again.

This Country stars Daisy May Cooper and Paul Cooper, writer and filmmaker 'Honest Mum' and The Apprentice 2017 finalist Michaela Wain were among those sharing the charitable competition.

Mrs Wilkinson, who has three children, said: "We are still really hopeful that we will hit our target.

"One of my friends told me: 'You're not going to buy a lottery ticket for April next year, you're going to wait until nearer the time', so I think you get that initial influx of people but then they wait to see what's going to happen.

"We have had loads of support. I've been trying to get the word out by posting on local Facebook groups and there are so many supportive people in there.

"We have had amazing support in the groups from around Windermere, Kendal and the wider Cumbria area. And we have a lot of family and friends in Barrow who have been really supportive.

"If we can continue to get people to share our story we will get the word out further afield and sell more tickets.

"The odds are great and the ticket price is good, and we think the prize is fantastic – plus the charity benefits, which is why we chose to do this in the first place, to raise money for them."
