AN APPLICATION to reduce the size of a affordable housing project on Walney from 25 to 22 houses has been approved by Barrow Borough Council.
South Lakes Housing plan to build 22 new homes on Solway Drive based on Walney Island, and this application was to confirm the admendment to the plan.
The site will include a mix of affordable homes available under shared ownership and to buy and rent.
The will be built by Barrow-based Leck Construction Ltd.
This is part of the wider project reported back in August 29 where The Mail reported that a green light had been given for 61 new homes in the area.
This development is expected to be completed by July 2021.
The properties include four bungalows and 18 houses and are either semi-detached or link-detached, six of which will come with an attached garage.
There will be six homes available through Affordable Rent, two homes through Rent to Buy and 14 homes will be available for purchase via Shared Ownership.
Funding has been provided by South Lakes Housing with additional affordable housing support from Homes England.
South Lakes Housing have recently completed the conversion of the old town hall in Ulverston.
