A MULTI-AGENCY search for a missing person has been called to a halt after beginning at 6.30am.

Furness Coastguard and Arnside & South Lakes Coastguard Rescue Team were paged at 6.30am this morning to reports of a missing person in Grange.

Furness Coastguard said on their Facebook: "The two teams met up at Grange train station and a Lost and Missing Persons Search plan was created. The two Coastguard teams carried out a search of the promenade and immediate area.

"The search escalated and required other resources, which became a multi agency incident involving our colleagues from the Morecambe RNLI Hover Station, Cumbria Police, Kendal Mountain Rescue Team, Bay Search & Rescue, North West Ambulance Service and Ulverston Inshore Rescue.

"The Coastguard teams were stood down at 2pm. No further details will be given at this time.

"If in any danger around the coast, or stuck in the mud! Call #999 and ask for the Coastguard."
