READERS are reacting to retailing giant Home Bargain bosses explaining why their stores will be closed on Boxing Day.

Judith Aitken said: "I wish other shops would follow suit and let their staff enjoy Christmas with their loved ones. It's absolutely shocking, the staff works really hard on the lead up to Christmas, the least the stores could do is give them a couple of days off at least. I actually refuse to go into any shop Boxing Day, if I need anything it waits until the 27th, even the 28th if I can."

Gordon Bennet said: "Quite right too...NO shops should be open on boxing day. Ridiculous.

Mind, I'm still of the opinion all shops & businesses should be shut on a Sunday."

Sylvia Stoker said: "Quite right. Why not close over Christmas and give staff time with their family? If you haven’t got what you want in the run up to Christmas your fault!"

Glenda Littlehales said: "All the big shops should close and let the small shops open so that they don't lose out as the little shops need us more than ever local shops since COVID started and have missed out having to close cause their not essential."

Eileen Athersmith said: "This year especially they should close Friday, Saturday and Sunday, give all retailers a nice break.."

Virginia Cripps said: "Those workers need break too and to be able to enjoy Christmas with their family too."

Bob Ramsey said: "I think they should open Xmas day for when I run out of beer."

Jonathan Shires said: "Can't think of a better reason to support them over Christmas."
