Ulverston has a long history of charity work and today we are looking back at the various fundraising efforts that have taken place over the years.

Schools and nurseries have always been key contributors to charities in the area, and by the looks of the pictures from Pennington Nursery back in 2014, they had a great time doing so in the reindeer run event organised by St Mary’s Hospice.

10-year-old Bethan Tonkin of Croftlands Junior School was ahead of her time donating her hair to Little Princess Trust as you see more and more people doing so at the moment to help make wigs for young girls with cancer – most likely because of people like Bethan.

Charities are really crying out for help at the moment and it is people like this in Ulverston that will see them through this pandemic.
