FIREFIGHTERS stepped in after part of a supermarket was sign was close to falling off.
Crews cordoned off a section of road next to Cornerhouse Park in Barrow, with fears over part of the Tesco supermarket sign.
Firefighters said a length of wooden cladding on the seven metre structure was in danger of coming off and falling onto the pavement and road next to it.
Small tools were used by firefighters to remove the dangerous cladding.
Describing the incident Barrow watch manager Shane Parkinson said: "One length of wooden cladding was removed that could have potentially fallen off onto somebody.
"It was a dangerous structure."
Firefighters were called at around 6.30am today and were at the scene for an hour.
