A story written by a Walney School pupil has been published nationally.

Caitlin Lockrie’s ‘Walking The Halls,’ was published in the National Citizen Service’s (NCS) No We Can Anthology alongside 11 other authors.

Speaking about her achievement, Caitlin said she had improved her writing skills with the help from her teachers.

She said: “I never thought I would be able to get to where I am with my writing.

“I used to have a lot of trouble with my spelling but my English teachers have supported me in improving.

“In fact, they have supported and encouraged me so much that I have been able to win a national short story competition for under 18’s.”

Caitlin’s teacher Lucy Jagger said her student’s confidence had developed greatly since attending her classes.

She said: “Caitlin is an incredibly insightful writer with an engaging writing style.

“Caitlin was a very quiet and introverted writer when she first started attending Creative Writing Club but I am so pleased to see how confident she has become over the last year - from shy and unsure to being awarded a place in the NCS anthology as one of 12 nationally.”
