READERS reacted to the news that a drive-in fireworks display would be held in Barrow next month.

The show will be held at Park Vale athletics track on Walney between November 5 and 7.

Julie Clarke: "I was hoping there wasn’t going to be any this year. Poor animals are terrified, it’s time they used silent fireworks. A lot of people will still be worrying about their pets."

Julie Greer: "What a joke, they should be banned or made silent, just think of all the pets and vulnerable people that are terrified."

Jess Holmes: "I get animals don't like it but what about the kids? Do you not think they are allowed any fun at all?"

Christine Barnes: "Hope all goes well. Can't please everyone but there was always firework displays when I grew up and less on the streets, so hopefully this will see less people setting them off at home!"

Tracy O'connor: "No need for three nights of it. Bonfire night yes but pointless for 6th and 7th."

Elaine Butcher: "My dog is terrified of fireworks... and it will go on and on and on... for more than three days with 'private' displays, always does."

Keith Hill: "Why is this allowed? Will it be to celebrate Barrow going into complete lockdown?"

Lee Thompson: "Three nights of fireworks is way overkill! I'd prefer Halloween to be three days and have a few fireworks on bonfire night."

John Price: "Yeah because people aren't going to gather round there to watch it - what a joke."
