HEALTH secretary Matt Hancock has confirmed that Barrow will be placed in the 'high alert' tier of coronavirus restrictions.
Speaking the Commons, Mr Hancock said Barrow was among the places that would be moved into Tier 2 of the restrictions due to rising infection rates.
The changes will come into effect at one minute past midnight on Saturday morning.
Under the new restrictions, people would be prohibited from meeting other households socially indoors.
The rule of six still applies outdoors.
"I know these measures are not easy but I also know they are vital," Mr Hancock said.
The restrictions are thought to affect the Barrow borough area.
