A TALENTED artist is using her artistic flair to raise money for the NHS.

The beautiful pictures detail the hard-working members of the NHS, inspired by an Edinburgh hospital where her brother’s girlfriend has worked tirelessly during the global crisis - as well as one drawing which aimed to capture the struggles that many parents are facing at home.

Lynne Mackay, originally from Scotland, lives with her partner Steven Banks on Walney.

The budding artist decided that she would channel her energy into her drawings after she was furloughed from work during the lockdown, and was inspired by the NHS and the way that rainbows have swept the nation as a sign of hope in an incredibly challenging time.

Lynne said: “The first picture I started work on was the girl in the visor, taken from a photo of my brother’s partner who is an NHS ICU nurse.

“I thought it would be a nice touch to add rainbow colouring after seeing many examples of this displayed during the lockdown. This quickly led to a request to do a collective picture of a ward team, with each of them having their own colour of the rainbow.

“The picture of the girl reading to a young boy was sketched from a photo of my best friend with her young son.

“I thought it would be nice to draw some attention to the difficulties many are facing during this time juggling both work and family life, especially with schools and nurseries being closed”

Partner Steven said: “Lynne works as an architect so most of her drawing experience comes from this so I guess she’s always had some aptitude for it.

“She is actually very new to this kind of art and has only really developed it since being furloughed from work at the beginning of April."

The designs were originally done as pastel drawings, but are available as a print with funds going to charity.

Lynne has had prints made up on Etsy at her LMDesignsGB shop, with the proceeds going to ‘NHS Charities Together’.
