The recent littering and desecration of the countryside, not only in our Lake District, is quite deplorable but not unexpected.
We all know the saying of reaping what you sow and this is so true.
We are suffering from a generation of poor parenting (basic life skills such as not littering should be taught by parents), poor governance (some of us remember the public information once issued by the Government regarding not littering and caring for the countryside), and the lack of a desire or ability to prosecute offenders (another governance matter of not having the number of police to apply the law as well as the desire to prosecute which is one of the main reasons that such as Switzerland is so devoid of litter).
What is needed is for all the 3 above issues to be addressed nationally by our beloved government but I am afraid that I shall not be holding my breath.
