“THIS is the Lake District, not Glastonbury” warned Cumbria Police as it responded to reports of ‘females pushing wheelbarrows full of alcohol’ at a South Lakeland tarn.
On Twitter yesterday, a spokesman for South Lakes Police said that, after responding to the reports, officers found around 30 people camping at Blea Tarn. The campers were all told to ‘pack up and leave’.
The spokesman also said police were receiving ‘countless’ daily reports of people breaching Covid-19 restrictions by staying in holiday homes, resulting in fines.
He reminded people camping was not permissible until July 4.
