NEIGHBOURS have spoken of their shock after a 'quiet man' died after a stabbing in Barrow.

Police are appealing for information after the man, who was in his late 40s, died in Furness General Hospital following the stabbing in the Broad Close area of Ormsgill on Friday.

A local man aged 63 was arrested on suspicion of murder and is currently detained.

A resident of Broad Close said: "I am really shocked that this has happened, he was such a quiet man.

"It's such a shame."

Officers were at the scene on Saturday morning conducting enquiries.

They were called out to the incident at 7.56pm on Friday.

The victim has not yet been formally identified.

Police are appealing for anyone with information or anyone who witnessed this incident to call police on 101 quoting log 198 of June 12.
