FURNESS Coastguard were paged at 5:36am today to assist Cumbria Police with an incident near Priory Crossings, Ulverston.
The coastguard team met with Cumbria Police who confirmed there was a person on Chapel Island in need of assistance.
The team deployed two water rescue technicians with the water rescue sled and along with assistance from Ulverston Inshore Rescue and Cumbria Police successfully recovered the casualty and passed them through to the care of North West Ambulance Service.
Arnside and South Lakes Coastguard Rescue Team were also called to assist.
Furness Coastguard said the incident was a long recovery over difficult terrain.
The rescue resulted in a positive outcome.
