A PARK cafe has announced it will not be reopening its doors after lockdown.

Coach House Cafe in Ford Park, Ulverston will remain closed after measures are lifted due to the financial impact of the coronavirus pandemic.

Instead the building will reopen 'under a new model'.

Since 2012 the cafe has been run by Coach House Community Enterprise, which was set up to help fund the Ford Park Community Group and the maintenance of Ford Park.

"Trading at a profit has become more difficult and the current pandemic has now made this all but impossible," said a spokeswoman for Ford Park Community Group.

"Looking to the near and medium future the Coach House will not be able to provide a significant and sustainable income stream to support the Ford Park charity. Ford Park Community Group wishes to thank the Coach House Community Enterprise, directors and especially its dedicated staff for their hard work and support over the last eight years. The group would like to emphasise that after the current government restrictions due to the pandemic are lifted, we hope to reopen the cafe under a new model. The hiring of facilities at Ford Park, including the field and the Williams Room remain bookable once it is safe to do so as coronavirus restrictions ease. This closure does not affect the work undertaken by the Ford Park Charity and its team, Park Run, the Ford Park nursery and future community events."

Jill Salmon, chief executive, added: “During the last eight years the Coach House has provided many memorable moments to many in the community and we are deeply grateful for the community support throughout and for the hard work of the team.”
