FURNESS Coastguard were paged at 2.45pm today to reports of a person with a suspected broken ankle, requiring extrication from the sands at Bardsea.

The team made their way to scene to assist North West Ambulance Service in stabilising the casualty and then carrying her off the sands using a stretcher.

The Furness Coastguard said that they hoped the casualty makes a full, speedy recovery, and added that if you do ever find yourself in difficulty or requiring assistance its always better to call them sooner rather than later.
