Police have arrested a taxi driver from Halifax on the A590 after an axe and 'large quantity' of cocaine were found in the car, officers said.
They stopped the driver and a passenger near Newby Bridge early this morning.
The pair were arrested, one breaching his restraining order and both for possession of an axe and cocaine.
Cumbria Roads Police said on Twitter: "A taxi from Halifax was stopped on the A590 dual carriageway near Newby Bridge.
"After a lengthy chat with the driver and passenger, they were both arrested due to one breaching his restraining order and both for possession of an axe and a large quantity of cocaine."
