A DRIVER was stopped by police in a South Lakeland town on Thursday after being found to have no licence.

On the South Lakes Police Twitter page, a constabulary spokesman said the driver, who was pulled over in Windermere, also had no insurance.

The spokesman added: "To top it off they had driven over 1.5 hours to come to the Lakes because they like the roads around here.

"Liking the roads isn't really a necessary journey."

He said the car was seized and the driver would now attend court.
