CHILDHOOD sweethearts who met over a decade ago have tied the knot in a magical ceremony at the Abbey House Hotel.

Jess Flynn, 28, a dental nurse, has married long-term boyfriend, Timmy Wright, 28, a dental technician, after more than 15 years together.

The pair first met at school when they were 14 years old and have been dating on-and-off ever since.

The now Mrs Wright said: "We met when we were really young - about 14 or 15 - through friends and just started dating.

"We were childhood sweethearts.

"We get along really well together and both love going going to the gym.

"He was quite shy at first but once I got to know him, I realised he was quite chatty."

For their first date, the pair went to a Frankie and Benny's for breakfast when they were just teens.

"I can't remember much about it but I remember we got along really well from the start," Mrs Wright said.

The pair took their relationship to the next step in a romantic proposal touring some of their favourite spots throughout the years together.

"Timmy took me to the place where we first met, where we first kissed and all these special places throughout our relationship," Mrs Wright said.

"Then at the end we went back to the house and he'd set up champagne and chocolate.

"I got a bit suspicious the day he proposed and actually went looking for a ring in the house but couldn't find one anywhere.

"He got down on one knee - it was very romantic."

The couple tied the knot at the Abbey House Hotel in front of 80 of their nearest and dearest, with a further 40 people joining them for the evening celebrations.

Mrs Wright said: "The whole day went so quick.

"I would love to do it all again.

"The hotel and staff were all so nice.

"We all stayed the night before and had a wedding breakfast the next day.

"It was decorated perfectly and exactly how we wanted."

The pair had their first dance to Ed Sheeran's 'Perfect' before enjoying a nighttime disco.

"I would do it all again in a heartbeat," Mrs Wright said.

"Everyone was up dancing and having the best time."

For their honeymoon, the pair went to the Gran Canaria but had also booked a trip to Barcelona before it was unfortunately cancelled due to travel restrictions caused by the coronavirus.

Mrs Wright said: "Timmy had actually booked it as a surprise but eventually had to tell me where it was and that we weren't going anymore. I'm sure we'll go when everything blows over."
