MUNCASTER castle invites aspiring poets to take part in 2020 World Poetry Day.
Members of the public can submit their poetry centred around the theme of ‘a day at the castle’.
Peter Frost-Pennington, of Muncaster Castle, said: “We enjoy celebrating art in all forms here at Muncaster and are very excited to display some new creative writing”.
The Pennington family has a lineage as far back as 1066.
In 1783, the first Baron of Muncaster was created for the Pennington family.
The octagonal library of Muncaster Castle has an estimated six thousand books, containing the writing and poetry of William Wordsworth, Robert Burns and the writing of the Pennington family.
The poetry deadline is 18 March and the address for submissions is Muncaster
