ONE of the many jewels in the crown of Millom is the Beggar's Theatre.

Over the years the Market Street venue has played host to some of the top comedians and acts from across the country.

2019 started off strong, with The Lynne & McCartney Story kicking off the first gig of the year.

The theatre also saw early visits from the likes of Mat Ricardo and the traditional Celtic music of The Tannahill Weavers.

March was a great month for comedy with Patrick J Monahan and household name Seann Walsh taking to the stage to entertain the crowd.

Following on from that, Lost Voice Guy, winner of Britain’s Got Talent, brought his confidence and charm to the theatre.

Many tributes graced the stage, keeping the magic alive through shows such as Elvis: The Legend, a celebration of Simon and Garfunkel and even an incredible Tommy Cooper act.

Finishing off the year was The Scrooge Diaries.

And there’s lots on the 2020 line up.

Multi-million selling soul band The Real Thing are ready to give their much loved disco-inspired hits a new lease of life, with an extensive UK tour, making a pitstop in Millom on March 14.

Simon Bodkin will be appearing in April, after three hugely successful BBC series acting as Lee Nelson.

The award winning Simon won’t be taking on a character for this performance, unleashing his true self upon the audience.

May will see another Britain’s Got Talent star appear at the venue.

J Jonny Awsum is best known for his performance of ‘This is a Musical’ with Ant and Dec, and ‘The Triangle Song’ with David Walliams.
