PLANS to turn a 130-year-old home in Barrow into six flats have been approved.
Councillors gave the green light to turn the Abbey Road home into three self-contained flats with a duplex providing a further three flats.
Steve Johnson, who resigned as chief executive of Barrow Raiders in 1995, is behind the plans.
A design and access statement submitted to planners laid out proposals.
It said: “It is proposed to convert the premises into a series of three flats and a duplex all of which are self-contained units.
“The flats will contain a common front door and communal stairwell.
“There will be a single flat on each of the three floors.”
Describing the features of the flats, it said: “Each apartment will contain a large reception room, kitchen and two bedrooms with en-suite bathrooms.”
