A MAN who pulled out drugs while in police custody has avoided punishment.
Derek Michael Dacre, of Egerton Court in Barrow, appeared before magistrates after being charged with possessing a class C drug.
South Cumbria Magistrates’s Court was told the man, 33, was arrested following a road accident on July 1 last year.
The court heard he attempted take diazapam at the police station to ‘soothe his nerves’.
Magistrates granted the defendant a conditional discharge for six months.
They ordered the drugs to be destroyed.
