A SLIMMING World consultant has revealed that slimmers in Barrow and Dalton lost almost 1,500 stone in 2019.

Sam Mathieson runs four groups across Barrow and Dalton.

Members of her morning group at St Aiden’s, Barrow, collectively lost 3,496lb, whilst the afternoon group lost a total of 2,499.5lb.

The Dalton morning group lost 3,467lb whilst the afternoon group lost 3,128lb.

Sue Griffiths runs a group at Hindpool whose members lost a total of 4058.5lb.

Karen Clarke’s Walney group lost 4129 lb.

This brings the total to 20,778lb - or 1,484 stone.

Mrs Mathieson said: “I absolutely love my job.

“Helping people to achieve their own goals and dreams is just amazing.

“I too am a Slimming World member - that’s how all consultants start, so we have all been there and struggled with our weight ourselves.

“It’s so important to help people become happier and healthier for themselves, their futures and for their children and grandchildren.

“It’s very important for me as a mum to bring up my daughter eating well and learning the importance of staying healthy.

“This is absolutely the best plan because it is a lifestyle change.”

Scout leader and Slimming World member Jane Thatcher said: “After seeing photos of myself at my scout group’s centenary open day, I knew I was overweight and I wasn't happy with my body shape.

“I achieved my target weight loss of 4st 5lb and I’ve gone from a size 18 to a size 10 - which has meant a complete new wardrobe.

“I do feel so much fitter now and I’m finding it easier to keep up with the young people in the scout group as well as the toddlers at the children’s centre where I work.

“I have more energy, clearer skin, less greasy hair - and I feel more body confident and feel generally happier."
