A SHORT film about a Holocaust survivor who has regularly visited Cumbria to speak to school students will be screened as part of a Holocaust Memorial Day Commemoration this month.
Barrow Trades Union Council will host the film, titled Surviving Auschwitz: Prisoner 84303, which features Holocaust Survivor Zigi Shipper in conversation with presenter Olivia Wayne.
It was co-produced by his grandson Darren Richman.
The event will also feature readings of extracts of Holocaust survivor testimony and the lighting of a memorial candle.
Mandy Penellum, secretary of the group, said: “It is vitally important that we never forget the horrors of the Holocaust.”
The event will be held on Friday January 24 at Cooke’s Studios in Abbey Road at 7pm.
