A MAN has appeared in court after being charged with assaulting a woman.
Stuart William Barclay stood before the bench at South Cumbria Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday charged with beating Helen Barclay.
The 46-year-old pleaded guilty to the offence, which was said to have taken place between June 1 and June 30 of this year.
Barclay, of Pennington, was sentenced to a community order by magistrates in which he must carry out 40 hours of unpaid work and attend a rehabilitation programme for 30 days. He was also handed a £90 victim surcharge and £85 costs.
