DOZENS of trees are going to be planted across South Lakeland as part of new measures to help the environment.

A total of 65 trees are to be planted at Ford Park in Ulverston to create a new community orchard, according to a report to go before South Lakeland District Council at a meeting next week.

And 36 trees will be planted across parish-council owned sites in the district, starting in the New Year.

In total, 173 tree planting locations have been identified after South Lakeland District Council appealed for parish and town councils to come forward with suggestions.
