AN unusual sight in Dalton prompted a report to highways bosses.
A motorist spotted a man cutting away strips of turf on the verge in Askam Road just before the Elliscales roundabout at the weekend.
Suspicious, the man reported it to Cumbria County Council, Highways England, Barrow Borough Council and police.
The county council investigated and confirmed the male had been planting bulbs on behalf of Dalton Town Council.
