A COASTAL rescue team has issued a warning to South Cumbria about the dangers of drinking and driving near coastal areas.
Millom Coastguard Rescue Team (MCRT) is raising awareness of drinking and driving near coastal areas to warning to members of the public as the festive season approaches.
The topic comes as part of the Drink Aware campaign, which has been backed by all coastguard teams up and down the country.
A spokesperson from MCRT, said: "Don't get carried away this festive season.
"Stay out of 'the drink' when you drink.
"If you see someone in trouble at sea or at the coast call 999 and ask for the Coastguard."
MCRT work with coastal teams across South and West Cumbria, including Furness Coastguard.
