The thing is it will have a knock on effect on their colleagues as they know well ahead of the festive season that they can enjoy Christmas time with family. Good quality family time - treat staff right and you will get more from them in the long run.we don’t need to shop 24/7.”

Jenn Raines said: “Congratulations home bargains let’s hope more shops will follow... Retail staff work very hard all year round and to give them two days off over Christmas isn’t to much to ask... Yes all shops to close Boxing Day.”

Jo Braithwaite said: “Yes everywhere should be closed Christmas day, Boxing day, New Year’s day it’s all about money money these days and it doesn’t feel like Christmas anymore - the fun has been taken out of now instead of being grateful for what you’ve got, it’s I want I want and putting people into debt.”

Sandra Hartley said: “All shops etc should close. It is only 1 day. Why not for a week just like it used to be. Always managed.”

Pauline Kelly said: “All shops should be closed boxing day!”

Lynne Davidson said: “I feel sorry for retail staff as shops used to be shut Boxing day as well as Christmas day. Don’t think anyone will suffer if they are closed boxing day and they should be closed new years day too.”

Emma Mullen said: “They should all be closed from Christmas Eve until after Boxing Day in my opinion.”

Malcolm Rayner said: “The answer is simple, just boycott those thoughtless businesses who do open and treat the whole of Christmas as just another retail opportunity.”
