THE Keswick to Barrow would not be able to run without its many sponsors.

Those confirmed for next year's charity effort so far include: BAE Systems, The Mail and The Westmorland Gazette, Rolls-Royce, Kier Group, Lockheed Martin Uk, ATS, Sener, Barrow Borough Council, Cumbria Police, Newton Europe, United Utilities, Grand at Grasmere, Britannia Inn, Furness Park Group, Enterprise and South Lakeland District Council.

Vanessa Sims, group editor for Newsquest Cumbria, said: “The annual K2B walk is a major highlight in the South Cumbria calender.

“It is amazing to see the community embrace the event and raise thousands of pounds for wonderful local charities.

“As a longstanding supporter of the K2B, The Mail and The Westmorland Gazette are proud to be supporting the 2020 walk, and encourage anyone who is yet to give it a go to make it their year.”

Neil Doherty, BAE Systems corporate social responsibility manager said: “Events such as the K2B and C2B walks are major undertakings to organise yet bring so much back to the community.

“For good causes and charities, the money raised by the thousands of walkers who take part each year is absolutely crucial.

“The event is also brilliant to bring people together for a common cause; many people from BAE Systems are involved either as participants or behind the scenes to make sure it all works smoothly.

“As title sponsors BAE Systems aims to ensure the walks continue to flourish and we’re looking forward to the 2020 event.”

Cllr Ann Thomson, Barrow Borough Council's leader, said: “Barrow Borough Council is proud to support the Keswick to Barrow Walk.

“Congratulations to all the participants, supporters, organisers and volunteers who make this such a brilliant day in Barrow’s calendar every year, raising vital funds and awareness for amazing causes and bringing people together.

“Seeing thousands of walkers on Abbey Road on their way to the finish line as they complete their final mile is an inspiring reminder of the fantastic community in which we all live."

She added: "The presentation evening is a wonderful celebration of the event’s incredible fundraising achievements."
