TWO new bus shelters have been built on major roads in Ulverston.
A bus shelter has been fitted outside Elmhurst Care Home on Priory Road.
Another bus shelter on County Square is set to be installed today.
The plans were first put forward by Ulverston Town Council in April after residents complained of having to stand in adjacent doorways in adverse weather conditions.
The most appropriate site for the shelters were discussed, deciding on the side of the ‘Old Library’ building and Elmhurst Care Home on Priory Road.
Councillor Mark Wilson said: “These bus shelters have been asked for by residents and I am pleased to say that Ulverston East Labour councillors pushed this through.
“We applied via the bus service operators grant and with hard work from the town clerk made this a reality.
“We are very happy to support local bus services and will look across the board to strengthen services that can run folk around town.”
