BUSTLING Barrow music shop TNT Records is celebrating making the shortlist of 20 in the UK Record Shop of the Year competition.

Now the independent shop in Duke Street is calling on its loyal supporters and customers from across the region to help it land the number one spot.

The annual competition, organised by Long Live Vinyl magazine, is arguably the most prestigious prize in the record shop industry, and for TNT Records to claim victory in its first year in business would be a massive achievement.

“To even make the Top 20 is beyond anything we could ever have expected,” says owner and manager Dave Turner.

“When we opened at Christmas, we certainly weren’t thinking about national awards and competitions, but it’s thanks to the overwhelming support from the public and record buyers from all over the North West that we’re in this position.

“Having come this far, it would be incredible if we could win it, so we’re calling on anyone who hasn’t done it yet to vote for us online - and anyone that has, to tell their friends and family about it. It would mean so much to us to win this award, and we can’t do it without you.”
